Saona Island Excursion

Possible Saona Private Excursion Highlights

We distinguish our private Saona Island excursion by offering an exclusive, personalized experience with full flexibility in our itinerary. This ensures the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of our guests are always our top priority. We frequently adjust the order of stops to avoid crowds and potential rain. Typically, we visit Canto de la Playa and Mano Juan first to steer clear of the highest afternoon waves and other tour groups. The adventure begins at our visitors center on Bayahibe beach, where we board the speedboat for a truly private journey.

Speedboat

Trilling Ride Along The Coastline

After departing from Bayahibe, we embark on an exhilarating journey along the coastline of the Cotubanama National Park, heading towards the impressive Rocks of Penon, once inhabited by the Tainos Indians. Along the way, we might be lucky enough to spot iguanas basking in their rocky playground, some reaching up to 3 feet in length. Occasionally, dolphins also make an appearance near Penon. Our excursion is exclusively by speedboat, allowing us to reach hidden spots that other tours, often restricted by catamarans, cannot access. By venturing further than any other tour, we ensure you avoid the crowded, mass-tourism beaches of Saona Island.

Mano Juan

A journey back in time...

Mano Juan, a charming fishing village with 300 inhabitants. Here, there are no cars and electricity is generated solely by solar power. We can explore this picturesque village or simply enjoy a relaxing swim at the beautiful beach.

Village tour

How to live happy without modern amenities

You professional tour guide will lead you on a tour of Mano Juan, where you'll see how the residents live with very limited resources. If you’d like to support the local community, we recommend purchasing your souvenirs here.

Sea Turtle project

Community conservation at best

The Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Mano Juan, proudly sponsored exclusively by SeavisTours. This project is dedicated to increasing the survival rates of sea turtle hatchlings from nests found on Saona Island's beaches. Learn all about how this project works and if we are lucky, you might have the chance to hold baby turtles that are just 2-3 days old (please note that sightings are not guaranteed, as can not control nature). By booking this excursion, you directly support the Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Mano Juan, Saona Island.

Canto de la Playa

Remote ... feel alone in paradise

This stop is one of the absolute highlights of the excursion: the untouched Caribbean beach "Canto de la Playa". This pristine beach offers everything—white sand, crystal-clear, warm Caribbean waters, and breathtaking colors. You’ll have ample time to relax on the beach, swim, and snorkel in the vibrant coral gardens. The bay is protected by a reef barrier, with water no deeper than 5 feet (1.5 meters), making it perfect for novice snorkelers.

Snorkeling and relaxing in paradise

As the most remote corner of Saona Island, Canto de la Playa offers a unique opportunity to encounter remarkable sea life, including pufferfish, trumpetfish, cuttlefish, butterflyfish, flounder, blue tangs, and stingrays, among others. The vibrant coral gardens here are a masterpiece of nature, shaped by the currents into unusual and colorful sculptures. Experienced snorkelers and confident swimmers can venture out to the reef barrier, where larger fish are often found.

A traditional Dominican Barbecue lunch awaits you...

We will enjoy a traditional Dominican buffet lunch featuring fried chicken, BBQ pork chops, a rice dish, pasta dish, potato dish, and fresh fruits. The extensive menu caters to a wide range of dietary preferences. After lunch, you can relax on the beach, swim, or explore the local artisan souvenir shops. If you have any special requests for lunch we will do our best to accommodate them.

The mangroves

A Protected Area Within The National Park

These mangrove forests are crucial nurseries for marine life, offering essential protection and nourishment. In recognition of their importance, the government closed this area to all boat traffic in September 2013. We will navigate alongside the mangroves—keep an eye on the water and you might be lucky enough to spot an adult sea turtle!

Sandbank

In The Middle Of The Ocean With Huge Starfish

The famous "Piscina Natural," a renowned natural swimming pool. This expansive sandbank is home to thriving indigenous starfish, offering a unique opportunity to see them in their natural habitat among the grasses. You'll experience a sense of solitude in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by shallow waters that remain waist-deep even far from the shore. The area is known for its stunning shades of turquoise and blue, making it a truly breathtaking spot.

In the late afternoon, the boat returns to Bayahibe and we'll arrive back at our visitors center in Bayahibe.
